Welcome to our blog, The Brinary Code, because one of our founders has been running blogs in patient advocacy for well over a decade, you might notice a particularly PA-centric style, voice and tone. As we learn about ChatGPT together here, we’ll have terms and concepts explained more at the bottom of every blog, and sometimes insertions like the one following this sentence, because learning isn’t a one-and-done experience, especially with evolving tools like GenerativeAI. (This is one of the few areas where you’ll see me insert my own inflection, sense of humor, and commentary complete with I statements, so hold tight.)
Let’s get to know the team that built Prompting Integration and Consulting LLC (PICLLC).

My name is Richard Jaenisch, MPH, online as a Patient Advocate I’ve typically gone by the name Rick J. Nash. While my Lived Experience with Hep C and Liver disease started around age 12, My PA experience goes back 12+ years. Before I started dying of End Stage Liver Disease, I’d developed STEM programs for Poway Unified School District’s After School programs, starting in 2008, I’d taught school-aged students how to safely use, code, and build computers. After developing the programs I’d gone on to lead other programs, eventually consulting for them until my health longer permitted it. Due to my unique combination of Lived Experience and Subject Matter Expertise I’m often speaking with the government, industry and even the public about Hep C Elimination and Vertical Transmission. I’m a Board member of the Liver Coalition of San Diego, and a contributor to HepMag among other PA activities, but I’m more than your average Patient Advocate. I’m also the Director of Education and Outreach at Open Biopharma Research and Training Institute, and have been working at the intersection of Biopharma Manufacturing and workforce development. This has been a great space for Patient Advocacy, as well as developing a deep understanding of Industry training needs. As a board member of the Southern California Chapter of the Parenteral Drug Association, and of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers of San Diego, I’ve had the opportunity to get to know and serve our Life Sciences community, industry and regional ecosystems.
I helped form Prompting Integration and Consulting LLC, because I’ve seen the pace Life Sciences adopts new technologies, and I’ve seen how the pandemic and changes in investment are shifting energy in unexpected ways. I’ve watched the way Generative AI is being adopted, and well, I have some concerns, and notes. Thankfully, I happened to know some great experts on the topic, so together we thought of how best to approach this: empower the professionals and the industry with training courses and consultants who can help forge those Generative AI applications for their needs. I help inform the ethical and educational aspects of our Generative AI training and consulting. This is how, as a Patient Advocate, I can better serve the evolving needs of patients. I work on curriculum development, marketing, as well as business development at PICLLC.
